Flu Vaccination

Flu Video Messaging

This promotional video, featuring Joe Creelbad of GoodHealthTV® News, focuses on the importance of annual flu vaccines for the whole family. The video will be shown on GoodHealthTV® where available, and can be accessed and shown through YouTube (below) where GoodHealthTV® is not available.

Flu Posters (Updated 11/08/2018)

The following posters are meant to be posted in locations where flu and other vaccinations are available in your community. Versions of the posters that are editable – to include local images and logos – are available for download below, but will require Adobe Photoshop to edit.

One poster features a screen capture of Joe Creelbad of GoodHealthTV® News, who is also the star of the videos associated with this campaign (see above). We recommend that this poster be placed nearby the TV where GoodHealthTV® or other health videos are broadcast to promote alignment with and recognition of the promotional videos. We also recommend that you hang posters in a way that allows for their reuse.

Vaccination Promotion Materials

The following materials were developed to support community health representatives, public health nurses, and other local health providers in promoting adult vaccinations with their clients. These materials were developed in response to interests expressed by these groups, and contain information that they requested or indicated would be of assistance in addressing barriers to vaccination within their communities.

Vaccine Cards

These index cards include both promotional messaging and a convenient way for clients to track their vaccinations as they receive them. We encourage local health personnel to distribute these cards to their clients/patients, and to help them use them to follow their progress in receiving the vaccinations that are right for them. These cards are meant to be printed double-sided on 4”x 6” index cards.

Vaccine Guides (NOW UPDATED)

These guides were developed for Community Health Representatives and other health care extenders to facilitate communication with their patients/clients surrounding adult vaccinations. However, they may also be informative for community members and others.

Adult Vaccine Guide

This guide provides basic information about the various adult vaccinations, including general eligibility criteria, which can be discussed with patients/clients as an introduction to the topic and which vaccines may be right for them.

Note: the previous version of this fact sheet included a minor error. Namely, the PPSV 23 version of the Pneumococcal vaccine was incorrectly indicated for men who have sex with men (MSM). This is not an indication for PPSV 23.

Adult Vaccine Basics

This guide provides basic information about vaccinations generally, including how they work, and helps to answer some “Frequently Asked Questions” related to vaccination.

Addressing Vaccine Misconceptions

GPTEC worked with GPTCHB’s Safe Healthy Children Project and Epicosity to develop an infographic to address common misconceptions related to childhood vaccination, creating an infographic that is available for download.

Project Assessment Report

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) contracted with Kauffman and Associates, Inc., (KAI) to assess adult and influenza immunization education resources developed in partnership with Indian Health Service (IHS) and the Great Plains Tribal Chairman’s Health Board (GPTCHB). Resource development and distribution occurred between 2014 and 2017. Resources included printed posters, vaccine guides, information sheets, and radio and video public service announcements (PSA), which OASH and IHS disseminated throughout OASH Regions VI, VII, and VIII. This report assesses these education resources in their ability to represent American Indian core cultural values and increase American Indian communities’ awareness of adult and influenza immunization benefits.
